Twilight Sparkle scrimshaw on ivory

Once again I have decided to try my hand at a new type of art, so here is Twilight scrimshawed on a piece of elephant ivory (collected before the ban on importation decades ago). The piece measures about 1.5 inches across and took me about six hours to complete, give or take. I decided to use a stippling pattern to convey the shading, which looks much better from a distance than it does in the picture, as the dots aren't as obvious from further away. I made a few mistakes, notably extra lines in the horn and mane and some of the lines aren't as smooth as I'd like them to be (but I've since got better about that), but on the whole I'm happy with it.

For those who don't know, scrimshaw involves scratching lines into a piece of polished ivory to form a design, then ink is applied to the image and wiped off. The ink sticks to the scratched area, leaving behind the image that was scratched. It originated from 19th century whalers using whale teeth, usually depicting a nautical design, but for the first time I have done it with a pony design.
